Vintage Quilt Repair and Restoration Service
Custom Vintage Quilt Repair and Restoration Service by master quilter.
I offer custom quilt repair and restoration services to preserve your family or friend memories. Those quilts received a lot of LOVE over years and still want to be kept in the best condition possible.
The basis of my work is to preserve the integrity of the original textile; each quilt is a totally unique piece of art and reflects the creativity of its maker. It is essential to restore or repair a quilt to the look and feel of its original condition as close as possible.
Before I start to repair any vintage quilt I ask client following questions:
1. What is your goal for the quilt? Do you want it to be fully functional again? Or do you plan to keep it folded up neatly on a ladder or in a chest? The answer to this question will largely be determined by the state of your quilt and the degree of repairs that it needs.
2. Do you want to repair just the main issues of the quilt or you want to fix every damaged part. You need to remember that repairing a quilt is very time consuming, requires a lot of skills and is not cheap.
3. Are you going to accept replacing entire blocks if they are extremely damaged?
4. Do you want to replace the bounding?
5. Do you want to replace backing fabric?
6. Are you going to accept machine quilting for quilts that were hand quilted or you want to be hand quilted?
7. ETC….ETC… There will be more questions as every quilt is unique and requires a different approach to problems.
I offer a free estimate. E-mail or text me if you have any questions.
